Introduction
On the 25th of October in the year of 1979 my mother gave birth to me in a small dutch village called Dirksland. They named me Job, like the person in the bible. After a few move-arounds through Holland (den bommel, middelharnis, sommelsdijk, elburg, zierikzee, dreischor) I finally found my own place in Nieuwerkerk, which lies in the beautiful and peaceful province of Zeeland. In 2005 I met Saskia, which I married May 2007. The 25th of september 2007 our daughter Anne Sophia was born. We currently live in Rotterdam.
Work
Professionally I started my career as a software engineer for a small company in Vlissingen. There I have done several custom made software projects, and was involved in the developing of Point of Sale (POS) software. My part of this POS software was mainly debugging and making the communications modules based on several protocols. I have also done coding on a touch-screen POS software.
My own coding projects included a complete software package for internet cafes and schools, on which the customer could hire minutes by a central placed touch-screen and pay by a chipcard. Also this program could be used with a linux ba sed printserver so the customer could print pages when paying with the chipcard.
Also one of the bigger projects involved the porting of a MS-Dos based program Pact, which is a program for certifying for instance steel cables according to NEN and dutch EKH regulations to a sparkling windows based version programmed in Visual Basic.
Besides the coding I was also working in the field as system administrator for several clients. While software development became more and more important for the company, coding and supporting software took up most of the time.
In the beginning of 2002 I was hired by ZeelandNet as Field Engineer. ZeelandNet is a full service ISP which mainly operates in the province of Zeeland. It has around 70.000 end-users using their cable-internet services, but also offers software and technical equipment. Companies use their services also for webhosting, fiber connections, ADSL and SDSL.In the end of 2001, ZeelandNet had an offering for installing cable-internet for free. In response over 30.000 end-users decide to take that offer. In merely 4 months ZeelandNet installed cable-internet in most of those households.
When there was not much work left as Field Engineer ZeelandNet offered me a job at the Customer Service Office. Till somewhere around february 2006 I worked there with much pleasure. The CSO of ZeelandNet handles call per mail and phone . Because ZeelandNet offers a wide range of services and products there is a great diversity in the calls offered and the type of customers.
Since I partially lived in Rotterdam at the end of 2005 I decided to apply for a job in Rotterdam. From march till september 2006 I worked for Connexus Holland, which is an IT company. My tasks were giving telephonic support and doing s ystem administration for a variety of customers.
Since october 2006 I work for Snow. Snow is a dutch company which delivers unix specialists to their customers. Immediately I was hired to KPN in The Hague, where I worked until spring 2008.
Music
I could say I lIke one style or stream best, but it would be a very big lie. If you would take a look at my CD collection you could find anything in the category classical, dance, rock, pop, d&b, hardcore, jazz, acid jazz, hiphop and uhm, well.. I like music, so theres a lot more to it.
Pets
Cats. I love them, always had cats and probably always will. At this moment we have two cats (abby and dotje).
Hobbies
I used to dance a lot, around 6 or 7 days a week I was to be found on the dancefloor to dance ballroom and latin dances. I loved to do it, but had some problems with my dancing partner and had to quit after seven years.
Besides dancing my passion for music was good for a lot of fun at a local radio station. There i started as technician on a voluntary basis. Since i was quite involved in the station i also did the automation for them.
The real fun started when I got a chance to claim my own airtime in a weekly program on saturday afternoon every week 2 hours. I wanted more, and I got it…
In the summer I got my very own airtime every weekday from 10 am till6 pm. The time was divided in 3 programs bringing local news and had a real feel-good format and feel-good deejays (including me ofcourse :p). Since we all had fulltim e jobs, we used voice tracking.
When my fulltime job became more and more time consuming I had to decide to stop my activities. Unfortunately.
Nowadays I like to spend time with my family. I enjoy shopping around, watch movies and love cooking and eating, drinking wine, walking along the beach and good conversations *g*.
