Every once in a while I create things, things which are missing, have poor implementation/useability or are just way too bloated. Some of these little projects are shared here.
Current / recent
010leeft.nl | link
Dutch website listing events organised in the Rotterdam area. Built the website from scratch and used open source software as frontend for entering events for the moderators. Currently adding user requested features, doing data-entry, promotion and tweaking design so we can officialy launch it somewhere in august 2009.
staaterfile.nl | link
Dutch site with traffic information. Despite many websites offer this information in many forms, none of them is lightweight, easy to personalize and offers good analytics. Version 2 of staaterfile.nl will offer all of these missing functions.
ishetkerst.nl | link
Dutch website which notifies you if it’s christmas and has an automatically generated weekly RSS feed.
iCal dynamic shared calendars | see this website
Since I like information to be in the software which I daily use, information on certain websites is parsed and converted to iCal format. Some which may be interesting to others are put on my website and shared to the public.
Twitter tools | see this website
Twitter is a great easy to use and simple microblogging system. I wrote some scripts for my and your convenience.
jobd.net
My personal website needs a redesign. The migration to a new CMS was a success, though the old lay-out wasn’t usable anymore. The old grey business cards and blue resume will also match the new style of the website.
Stock management website
For a customer I’m completely rewriting a web based stock program on the current database. It will have a completely different look and feel, also the usability is improved. The tool will actually fit in the processess of the customer.
Past
Internet and printing payment terminal
Design, developing and testing of a stand-alone payment terminal designed for internet cafes, schools, airports and so on. The software was designed to work with touch screens and had a completely new user interface. The terminal would be equipped with a payment terminal which accepted closed payment systems and the widely accepted Chipknip and Chipper.
For this project I worked with the people at Deerfield, who adjusted the software Wingate so it could communicate with the terminal.
Touchscreen POS software
Design and developing of an alpha version of touchscreen POS software which actually was a whole new version of existing POS software.
Internet communications module
Design and developing of software which added the capability to send data to over the internet to POS software. The aim was to send sales data and orders over the internet to a back office or other POS system.
eetplaza.nl
Together with a colleague we did the design and development of a website and ordering system which was integrated in the POS software the company developed. Customers were able to place orders on a website, while the restaurant owner didn’t even have to know anything about internet. The existing POS software would process the order as normal, printing a receipt.
Also a lightweight version of the POS software was developed for this purpose, to cut back expenses for restaurant owners.
beachfm
The automation and format of a new radio station. Production of the jingle package. Maintaining the website. The aim of beachfm was to bring radio for a target audience (18-35) during the summer period on a public local radio station. Also I presented the morning radio show using voice tracking.
Certification software
Port of a clipper based certification program to Visual Basic.
